Beginnings, endings and everything in between….. therapeutic conversations with children, adolescents, individuals, couples and families.

I have always been genuinely interested and curious about people and how they relate to one another. As an Individual, Family and Couple Therapist I have had the opportunity to help my clients become more aware and clearer about themselves, their patterns of interaction and how stress can impact on the ways we manage ourselves and in our relationships.

My clinical approach is informed by ACT, mindfulness and narrative therapy. I predominantly use a Bowen Family Systems lens as my theoretical framework when working with individuals, couples and or families. My theoretical assumption is that ‘problems’ do not exist within the individual alone, they exist within a broader context of the family and key relationships. Understanding self in these relationships allows for the opportunity for options and choices to be made.  With new understanding, problems (symptoms) can be viewed differently. My underlying goal is to help clients to be clearer about their values, position and intentions. I see my role as ‘coaching’ clients to observe and notice their automatic ways of managing in challenging times. With this new understanding about ‘self’, a client can explore alternative ways of responding and managing themselves.

I am an accredited Mental Health Clinical Social Worker with a Masters in Family and Couple Therapy. I have a range of work experience spanning across over 20 years. In addition to working in private practice for many years, I have a diverse professional counselling background that includes community health, public health, education, private and government sectors – including Relationship Australia, Headspace, Parentline, Forensic Medicine, Hospitals and Community Mental Health Centres.

Over the years I have presented at International and Australian conferences, facilitated workshops, training sessions and support groups. I also provide supervision and consultation to other therapists.

I am committed to ongoing professional development and clinical supervision. This ensures a reflective clinical practice, accountability for offering a high level of counselling and staying abreast current literature and research.
